Nato nel 1961 in Germania, si è diplomato presso l'università di Graz in Austria come concertista, didatta e musicologo. E' attivo sulla scena musicale dall'inizio degli anni '80 e ha collaborato con numerosi musicisti italiani e stranieri. Dopo aver frequentato i Seminari Senesi di Musica Jazz si è stabilito a Siena dove dal 1990 insegna strumento, composizione ed arrangiamento, musica di insieme ed altre materie nell'ambito dei corsi invernali di Siena Jazz. Dirige la 'Siena Jazz Big Band', la 'Big Band Machine' e la filarmonica di Casteldelpiano, per le quali scrive quasi tutti gli arrangiamenti. Lavora anche con il suo quartetto, con 'Swing Chopin', con la 'Abbey Road Dixie Band', con il quartetto/settetto 'Clarinettology' e con tanti altri gruppi.

Nel campo della musica leggera ha collaborato fra gli altri con Francesco Nuti, Sergio Caputo e Marco Messeri. Insegna 'Educazione Musicale' alle Scuole Medie Statali. Ha pubblicato due libri sul fraseggio jazzistico con la casa editrice 'Ricordi' e diversi arrangiamenti con 'Lush Life Music' (Inghilterra). Come didatta ha tenuto numerosi workshop in Italia e Francia. Dischi e CD sotto il proprio nome, con Riccardo Galardini, Maurizio Picchiò, Carlo Morena, Maurizio Geri, il 'Quartetto Acustico Latino' , la 'Siena Jazz Big Band', Romina Capitani ed altri.

 

Originally from Burghausen (Germany), he studied classical music and jazz at the Musikhochschule Graz (Austria) and has lived since 1986 near Siena in Italy. He teaches jazz (clarinet, saxophone, combo, big band, composition and arrangement) at the school of the Siena Jazz association and in other schools and workshops, and is the regional coordinator for Italy of the 'International Association of Schools of Jazz (IASJ)'. He also teaches music to kids in regular schools.

He performs with all sorts of groups, from dixieland and gypsy jazz to contemporary music. He conducts the 'Siena Jazz Big Band' and two other comunity (big) bands and also writes a lot for his clarinet quartet. He has two books of jazz phrasing studies published by 'Ricordi'.

Geboren 1961, kommt aus Burghausen in Oberbayern und hat an der Musikhochschule Graz Klarinette und Saxophon, Klassik und Jazz studiert. Seit 1986 lebt er in der Nähe von Siena, wo er an der Schule der 'Associazione Siena Jazz' Klarinette, Saxophon, Combo, Big Band und Komposition/Arrangement unterrichtet. Er spielt mit Gruppen aus allen Stilrichtungen des Jazz und Umgebung. So leitet er z. B. die 'Siena Jazz Big Band' und die 'Big Band Machine', für die er fast alle Arrangements schreibt, spielt eine Art Gipsy-Jazz mit 'Swing Chopin', Dixieland mit der 'Abbey Road Dixie Band', eigene Musik, neben ausgewählten Stücken aus der Jazzgeschichte, mit seinem Quartett und der Gruppe 'Clarinettology'.

Er ist 'Region Coordinator' für Italien der 'IASJ', der 'International Association of Schools of Jazz', für die er zwei Meetings in Siena organisiert hat. Seit einigen Jahren unterrichtet er auch Musikerziehung an den staatlichen Mittelschulen. Er hat zwei Bücher über Jazzphrasierung bei 'Ricordi' und diverse Arrangements bei 'Lush Life Music' (England) veröffentlicht. Abgesehen von den in der Diskographie aufgeführten CD's hat er auch mit Francesco Nuti, Sergio Caputo, Marco Messeri und anderen aufgenommen.
